Stowe House has reopened for daily spring visits, with a programme of special tours, Easter activities and family experiences planned over the coming weeks.
From March, the historic house is open every day from 10.30am to 4.30pm, giving visitors access to its State Rooms and the opportunity to explore the history of one of Britain’s best-known country houses before the busier Easter holiday period begins.
Alongside general admission, several limited seasonal experiences are returning, including the popular Secrets of Stowe tours, which take visitors beyond the standard visitor route and into lesser-seen parts of the building.
The behind-the-scenes tours will run on 28 March at 2.00pm, 29 March at 12.00pm, 04 April at 12.00pm and 12 April at 2.00pm, offering access to hidden areas and additional historical details not usually included in the main visit.
Rooftop Tours will also return during the Easter holidays, giving visitors rare access to the roofline of the house and panoramic views across the surrounding estate. These tours are scheduled for 03, 06 and 12 April between 6.00pm and 7.00pm.
Family activities will run from 28 March to 19 April, with children invited to follow a themed trail through the State Rooms and take part in self-led craft sessions designed for younger visitors.
Admission remains aimed at families, with children’s tickets priced at £3 and under-fives admitted free.
Visitors this spring will also see new restoration work on the South Front Portico, where statues of Cybele and Juno have recently been returned to their original positions.
One statue is a direct copy of the original figure now located in Los Angeles, while the second was recreated using historical research after the original was lost. Craftspeople used comparable visual references of Juno to complete the restoration.
The reinstated statues now once again frame the main entrance as originally intended.
With spring gardens beginning to emerge and seasonal events underway, organisers say the period offers a quieter opportunity to explore the house before peak visitor numbers.
Visitors are advised to pre-book tickets and confirm opening times before travelling.
