The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra has announced its 2026/27 season, revealing an ambitious programme that spans more than 25 concerts in Oxford as well as a significant international touring schedule across London, New York, Rome, Berlin, Athens and Istanbul.
Bringing together four centuries of classical repertoire, the season continues the orchestra’s long-standing commitment to combining artistic excellence with international reach, while maintaining a strong cultural presence in Oxford.
A major highlight of the season is a new fully staged production of Puccini’s Tosca, presented by Oxford International Opera at the New Theatre Oxford in September. The production will feature an internationally acclaimed cast, including Sir Bryn Terfel, Carmen Giannattasio and Saimir Pirgu.

The season also marks the beginning of the Beethoven Festival 2027, a major artistic milestone that will celebrate the composer’s legacy on the 200th anniversary of his death. The festival will feature performances by leading global artists, including Maxim Vengerov and Martha Argerich, reinforcing the orchestra’s reputation for attracting world-class talent.
Alongside its main programme, the Oxford Philharmonic continues to invest in education and emerging musicians through its OPO Academy Programme. This season sees the return of FUNomusica children’s concerts, alongside Young Artist Platform recitals and collaborative performances involving Side-by-Side participants and Student Fellows.
Founded in 1998 by Music Director Marios Papadopoulos, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra has grown into an internationally recognised ensemble, known for its expansive repertoire and commitment to musical excellence. The 2026/27 season reflects both its heritage and its evolving global vision.
