Hinksey Outdoor Pool will reopen for the 2026 season on Saturday 16 May following the completion of a major investment programme worth more than £200,000.

The upgrade focuses on improvements to the facility’s plant room, aimed at increasing energy efficiency and reducing service disruptions at one of Oxford’s most popular summer attractions.

Although the work is largely behind the scenes, it is expected to provide more reliable heating and a more consistent water temperature while lowering energy consumption.

Visitors returning this season will once again be able to enjoy the heated 35-metre outdoor pool, which includes a shallow fun area for children, a beach-style splash zone for infants and a deeper section for lane swimming.

Rob Jennings said: “While our swimmers won’t be able to see the investment, as it’s all plant-room based, they’ll still benefit from the money we’ve pumped into the place. Swimming pools take a lot of heating, and thanks to the work completed, we’ll be able to offer a more consistent temperature, using less energy, while providing an improved overall customer experience for all our loyal visitors.

“We can’t wait to welcome you all to Hinksey on May 16th!”

Susan Brown said: “The opening of Hinksey Outdoor Pool is a highlight in the calendar for many Oxford residents. We know that many people will be delighted that it will be opening for the 2026 season. This latest investment in the site will allow us to continue to offer a great experience but will also help to improve the energy efficiency of the pool.”

Operated by LSCT in partnership with Serco Leisure on behalf of Oxford City Council, the pool welcomes thousands of visitors each year.

Swimmers are encouraged to book early ahead of what is expected to be another busy spring and summer season.
