A colourful convoy of classic Beetles, iconic Campervans and vintage Volkswagens is set to return to Stonor Park later this month as the estate prepares to host the latest edition of its long-running VW Car Rally.

Returning on Sunday 31 May, the event has been a fixture of Stonor Park’s summer calendar for more than 30 years and is expected to once again draw Volkswagen enthusiasts and families from across the region for a relaxed festival-style day out in the Chiltern countryside.

Set on the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire border, the rally brings together a wide range of Volkswagen vehicles spanning generations of motoring history, from lovingly restored classics to quirky custom builds and modern collector favourites.

Alongside the extensive display of vehicles, visitors can expect live music, street food vendors and family activities spread across the historic estate’s grounds, creating an atmosphere that blends automotive culture with a traditional summer country gathering.

Louisa Fifield, general manager at Stonor Park, described the rally as one of the highlights of the estate’s annual programme.

“Our VW Rally is a highlight of our summer calendar and an amazing way to mark the end of the May half term,” she said.

“You don’t need to be a huge car enthusiast to enjoy all that the event has to offer; it’s a great value-for-money day out for the whole family full of vibrant colours, both classic and quirky motors accompanied by great food and drink, within the striking setting of Stonor Park.”

Beyond the rally itself, visitors will also be able to explore many of the wider attractions across the estate, including the historic Stonor House, landscaped gardens and the popular woodland adventure playground, Tumblestone Hollow.

Fifield added: “We can’t wait to welcome Volkswagens of all ages, including charming Beetles, iconic Campervans and rare classics.

“There’s also ample space for leisurely strolls, family picnics, and the chance to relax in the beautiful Stonor grounds. This fun and family-friendly day out filled with community spirit really has something for everyone.”

Founded more than 850 years ago, Stonor Park remains one of the UK’s oldest continuously inhabited family homes and has increasingly become known for its diverse events calendar, which includes car rallies, endurance events, craft fairs and historical re-enactments.

Advance tickets for the VW Car Rally are priced at £12 for adults, rising to £14 on the day, while children under 16 can attend free of charge. Visitors attending the rally can also access discounted entry to Stonor House and Gardens and reduced-rate tickets for Tumblestone Hollow.
