Families are being invited to enjoy an affordable and interactive day out this May half-term at Stowe House, with a packed programme of royal-themed trails, crafts and hands-on activities running across the school holidays.

The “Royals at Stowe House: May Half-Term Family Trail & Crafts” event will take place on 24 to 28 May and 31 May, from 10.30am to 4.30pm, offering families the chance to explore the grand State Rooms while following a themed trail designed to spark curiosity and discovery in younger visitors.

Children can enjoy a variety of free self-led activities throughout the week, including crafts, colouring and make-and-take creations inspired by the house’s royal connections. The experience is designed to be both educational and entertaining, encouraging families to explore the historic setting together.

On Wednesday 27 May, visitors can also take part in special spring bug garland making sessions, run by the Stowe House team between 11am and 3pm, adding an extra creative highlight to the programme.

The event has been designed with affordability in mind, with tickets priced at £3.00 for children aged 6 to 16 and £9.50 for adults, while under-5s go free. Discounts are also available for National Trust members (£7.50), and Historic Houses members can enter free of charge.

Visitors are encouraged to make a full day of their trip by walking through Stowe’s renowned landscaped gardens to reach the House, or by pre-booking parking directly on site for added convenience.

Inside, families can explore the impressive State Rooms and interactive exhibits, offering a hands-on way to learn about the building’s history and royal connections.

Sadie Bull, Visitor Experience Manager at Stowe House, said:

“It’s always wonderful to see families having fun while discovering the royal connections between Stowe House and the monarchy.

“We love seeing little ones putting on their best royal strut through the State Rooms and enjoying the house in such an imaginative and playful way.”

Located close to Buckingham and within easy reach of Oxford and Bicester, Stowe House continues to position itself as an accessible and engaging family destination for the region.

The site is fully family-friendly, with facilities including baby changing, a café serving light refreshments and local treats, and a gift shop supporting the ongoing preservation of the historic house.
