Tony and double Olivier Award-winning musical Operation Mincemeat will return to New Theatre Oxford in July 2027, following a sold-out run at the venue earlier this year.
The limited engagement, added in response to demand, will run from Tuesday 13 July to Saturday 17 July 2027 as part of an extension to the production’s UK leg of its world tour.
Tickets will go on general sale at 10.00am on Friday 25 September through ATG Tickets.
Set in 1943, Operation Mincemeat tells the extraordinary true story of a secret Allied mission involving a stolen corpse, designed to deceive Adolf Hitler about the location of the Allied invasion of Europe.
The musical follows the people behind the operation and the elaborate deception that became one of the most remarkable episodes of the Second World War.
The Oxford dates form part of an increasingly international life for a production that began on a much smaller scale. Operation Mincemeat premiered at London’s 77-seat New Diorama Theatre in 2019 before developing a following through sold-out runs at venues including Southwark Playhouse and Riverside Studios.
It transferred to the West End in May 2023, where it has continued its run at the Fortune Theatre. The production has now been extended through 29 May 2027, taking its West End run into its fifth year.
The Broadway production at the Golden Theatre has also been extended, with performances scheduled through 14 March 2027.
Meanwhile, the world tour is continuing its international journey, with the North American leg beginning on 20 September at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island, before travelling to Australia, China, Mexico and New Zealand.
Written by Spitlip — David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson and Zoe Roberts — and directed by Robert Hastie, the musical has received 68 award nominations and won 24 awards since its premiere.
Its honours include Best Musical at the Olivier Awards, WhatsOnStage Awards, BroadwayWorld Theater Fans’ Choice Awards and Off West End Awards. The Broadway production received four Tony Award nominations and won Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
The return to Oxford gives local audiences another opportunity to see a production that has grown from a fringe theatre project into an international musical.
Operation Mincemeat will be at New Theatre Oxford from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 July 2027.
