Bicester Town Council

Bicester Town Council
The Garth, Launton Road
Bicester
OX26 6PS

Bicester Town Council was established following local government reform in 1974. It is part of a three-tier system of local government alongside Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council. Each authority is responsible for delivering different services.

The Town Council has 15 democratically elected councillors covering four wards across the town. Councillors are usually elected for a four-year term, and several town councillors are also Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Councillors.

Bicester Town Councillors meet for Planning, Policy, Environment and Finance and Town Council Meetings every eight weeks or so at the council’s headquarters in Garth Park.

They are not full-time paid officials and are only given a small annual allowance. The councillor’s position is one of influence rather than power at the Town Council level. However, they have a crucial role in representing the interests of the local community.

The town council office in Garth Park is the main point of contact for councillors and the community. All council and parent committee meetings are open to the public.
