About The Plough Shiplake
The Plough Shiplake is a modern British pub and dining destination located on the corner of Plough Lane and Reading Road, in the village of Shiplake, near Henley-on-Thames.
Previously known as The Plowden Arms, it underwent a significant refurbishment and reopened in 2022. The establishment combines a welcoming village pub atmosphere with a smart, stylish dining space featuring original exposed beams, natural brick, and a landscaped garden with unique touches like a firepit and an outdoor kitchen.
The menu offers innovative dishes with local ingredients, such as Berkshire Pig Belly, Shetland Scallops, and Cornish Cod, complemented by carefully curated wines and local beers. There’s also a private dining space upstairs for special events. The Plough embraces its historical roots, reflected in its name and design elements.
With a spacious beer garden, a well-stocked bar featuring local ales and fine wines, and a menu catering to diverse tastes, The Plough is a delightful spot for everything from casual drinks to special celebrations.
