Applications open for £100k NatWest Accelerator Pitch in Oxford

Entrepreneurs across the UK are being invited to apply for the NatWest Accelerator Pitch competition, with applications now open for its Oxford final, where start-ups will compete for a share of a £100,000 prize fund.

Hosted in Oxford for the first time, the competition aims to tackle one of the most persistent challenges facing early-stage businesses: access to funding.

By combining financial support with coaching, peer networks and investor connections, the programme is designed to help founders progress from early validation to investment readiness.

The initiative builds on NatWest’s growing collaboration with the University of Oxford, strengthening support for both entrepreneurs and student innovators within the region’s expanding start-up ecosystem.

Since launching in 2025, the Pitch competition has already awarded nearly £300,000 to businesses across three UK events. Participants have reported improved confidence, stronger investor engagement and faster progress in areas such as hiring and product development.

For the Oxford event, five finalists will be selected to present their ideas at a live final on 18 June. The top three businesses will share the £100,000 prize, with £70,000 awarded to the winner, £20,000 for second place and £10,000 for third. Finalists will also benefit from additional support from Google.

Applicants must join the free NatWest Accelerator community and submit a 60-second video pitch outlining their business and growth plans by 5.00pm on 05 May. Finalists will then deliver a three-minute pitch, followed by a question session with judges.

The programme forms part of NatWest’s wider ambition to grow its accelerator community to 50,000 members by 2026, supporting innovation-led economic growth nationwide.

Case studies highlight impact of Accelerator Pitch

Previous finalists in the NatWest Accelerator Pitch competition demonstrate the tangible impact of the programme’s funding and support.

Early-life nutrition brand POTINA, which focuses on functional food for children using fermentation and nutritional science, entered the competition with strong market validation but limited capital to scale innovation.

As a finalist, the company secured £10,000 in funding alongside mentorship and access to commercial networks, enabling it to accelerate patent protection, advance research and development, and strengthen national brand visibility.

Following the competition, POTINA joined the Tesco Accelerator Programme, further supporting its growth within the retail sector.

Another finalist, Orli, is a behavioural-intelligence companion designed to help children aged four to 12 understand and express emotions through play. Founded by an A&E doctor, the business was at an early validation stage when it entered the competition.

Funding secured through the Pitch was invested directly into product development and pilot programmes, supporting its first full school deployment in Sunderland and helping build evidence for future expansion.

Together, these case studies underline how the Accelerator Pitch can help early-stage businesses move from concept to growth, supported by funding, expertise and strategic connections.
