School children and their families were treated to a night at the circus last week thanks to the ongoing support of a local IT firm.
OX IT Solutions sponsored two Circus Starr events in Oxford and pledged seats for 14 disadvantaged children and their carers to attend the performances.
Circus Starr, the ‘circus with a purpose’, hosted two performances in Oxford last week for children with disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds. They were treated to exciting performances by dancers, jugglers, acrobats, and a clown – hosted at a local church on Cowley Road.
The donation given by the company – based in Kidlington – provided the main funding for this year’s performances and will continue to support the nonprofit organisation all year long. This follows on from the support they have given the charity over the last two years, which also saw them sponsor the events.
Paul Streeter, Director of OX IT Solutions, said: “Circus Starr is an incredible charity that is making a real difference in the lives of young people and their families in our community.
“We are really pleased to have been able to sponsor the performances again this year to enable them to continue their incredible work in Oxfordshire and nationally.”
The not-for-profit community interest company has been creating inclusive circus events for children across the UK for 35 years. Their family-friendly shows offer children the opportunity to attend safe and accessible circus performances at no cost.
Tickets to Circus Starr performances are sent to children and their families through a network of hospices, schools, hospitals, regional branches of national charities and support groups.
Mr Streeter added: “I was honoured to attend the event and present Circus Starr with a cheque on the night. The skill of the performers demonstrated and the effort they put into ensuring the performances are safe, inclusive and fun for everyone in attendance made it a really wonderful experience.”
