The long-established Milton Post Office has officially opened its doors at its new permanent home in Signal Yard, marking a major new chapter for one of the area’s most enduring independent businesses.
The family-run Post Office has served Milton Park and surrounding villages for more than 20 years, first opening in July 2004 following the closure of the village High Street branch.
Founded by Abdul Rehman Bajwa, the business has grown alongside Milton Park, becoming a trusted everyday service for occupiers, residents and visitors.
Now managed day-to-day by his son Zaeem, who has worked at the Post Office for 16 years, the move into Signal Yard represents both a practical upgrade and a symbolic milestone for Milton Park’s evolving social and retail hub.
From business mail services for science and technology companies to everyday postal needs such as parcels, returns, travel money and greeting cards, Milton Post Office has played a quiet but essential role in supporting daily life at Milton Park for decades.
Abdul, who ran the branch full-time between 2004 and 2010, reflected on its early days and long-standing customer loyalty. He said the business initially experienced a slow start but quickly became established as word spread through the local community.
Over the years, he added, the strongest constant has been the relationship with customers, many of whom continue to use the branch even when alternative services are closer to home.

The Post Office also remained open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as an essential service, a period during which demand increased significantly and its role within the community became even more vital.
Zaeem said the relocation marks a “new chapter” for the business, offering more space, improved customer experience and the opportunity to expand its retail offering beyond postal services.
He emphasised that trust and personal service remain central to the business, with many customers returning because of long-standing relationships built over time.
The move forms part of the wider development of Signal Yard as a new destination within Milton Park, bringing together independent operators and essential services in a single, accessible location.
New and existing businesses at Signal Yard include Bros Barbers, Damira Dental Studios, Flex Health Club and Milton Post Office.
Further additions are set to include relocating services such as Apollo Pharmacy and vegan restaurant Planted Plates, alongside new arrivals including 1885 Burgers, Chor Muang Thai and Tap Social ‘Day Release’, which will offer artisan coffee, sourdough, pastries, pizza and beer.
Asset manager Clare Fleet of Federated Hermes Real Estate said Milton Post Office is a strong example of the independent businesses helping to build a sense of community at Milton Park, praising the long-standing commitment of Abdul and Zaeem.
She added that Signal Yard provides a long-term home that reflects both the importance of the service and its role within the wider Milton Park ecosystem.
The Post Office is located approximately 500 metres from its previous unit and remains open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm, with free parking available for customers.
