Gateway Attractions has enlisted Savvy Group to support them in creating a new family entertainment attraction to be built at Oxford Castle Quarter.
The new attractions will featuring cutting edge technology and a plethora of experiences in a year-round facility featuring, including support for Oxfordshire’s food and beverage producers.
The new attractions will be under the Oxford Unwrapped brand and located in four buildings at the fashionable Oxford Castle Quarter. It will capitalise on the richness of Oxford’s history with a view to the developments of tomorrow, showcasing the wonder, the innovation and the history of this remarkable city and county.
The entertainment complex will provide immersive experiences and interactive games and exhibitions for all the family, including the use of the latest Virtual Reality (VR) technology to provide an insight into the past, present and future of the city, its hidden gems, and beauty of the wider county.
A major element of the attraction will look to the future to feature the innovation that is happening now across the city and county, including world-leading vaccine story, Formula 1, driverless cars, space, fusion energy and science technologies.
The entertainment complex will be designed to provide a world-class visitor attraction enabling Oxford Unwrapped to create connections and access to the best attractions and showcases the very best of Oxford and the county. It is planned for this visitors’ hub to help rebuild and energise the visitor economy impacted by the pandemic.
The project will renovate existing buildings within the Castle Quarter and complement the other tourist and visitor uses such as the Oxford Castle and Prison. Planning and Listed Building Consent is due to be submitted later in the summer, with Savvy Construction starting on the project in Autumn 2021.
The sites are due to open to visitors from late 2021.
