Players from the Oxford United women’s team, Adele Lindbaek and Vitaliia Budaieva alongside men’s team players Matt Phillips and Max Woltman traded their boots and goalposts for chopping boards at a lunchtime event hosted by Six By Nico, Oxford.

Chef and founder of Six By Nico, Nico Simeone, exchanged culinary tips and success stories with Oxford United at the exclusive event hosted at the recently opened Six By Nico restaurant located on the rooftop terrace at Westgate Oxford.

The event was part of a dynamic community engagement day by Six By Nico to highlight the venue’s commitment to supporting local businesses, charities, clubs, and societies that form the fabric of the city.

It featured an exclusive lunch and dinner at the restaurant, along with complimentary tasting samples from a branded food truck.

Oxford United winger Matt Phillips said: “I’m used to delivering on the pitch and not in the kitchen, so to meet the Six By Nico team and get out in the community after joining the club this summer was great.

“It’s clear Nico strives for his team to be the best they can be, which is the key motive behind any professional footballer.

“We picked up a few useful cooking tips on the day, but after tasting the Best of Six menu, we’ll leave responsibilities in the kitchen to the professionals, who served up some outstanding dishes.”

The restaurant hosted an exclusive evening event, welcoming loyal patrons alongside members of The Oxford Business Network.

Diners were treated to exquisite cocktails and the ‘Best of Six’ dining experience which celebrated Six by Nico’s most popular dishes from previous menus. The evening was beautifully rounded off with music from city-based piano bar Sandy’s.

A branded food truck continued the festivities at Bonn Square as passersby were treated to complimentary samples of the Six by Nico menu, to mark the brand’s arrival.

Six By Nico founder Nico Simeone said: “We’ve had a great response to our restaurant in Oxford since we opened in May, and we wanted to use this day as a chance to connect more with the people who have supported us since then.

Six By Nico has always been about building and growing alongside our community, and we want to keep building on that within Oxford and get involved more with the community here. We want to work with local creative companies and local businesses and be more embedded locally.”

Since its launch in Finnieston, Glasgow, in 2017, Six by Nico has expanded significantly, now with locations in 11 cities across the UK. It was founded by award-winning chef Nico Simeone as part of his ambition to launch a unique but affordable fine-dining experience.

Six By Nico will be running their Hollywood tasting menu from Monday 14th November, before moving into their next six-course tasting menu, ‘Land of Oz’, launching on 04 November.
