Cricketers in Bicester and North Oxford have received the perfect delivery thanks to a sports fund backed by legendary England bowler Darren Gough.
The £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund aims to support teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full-fibre network, which spans 26 counties. Bicester and North Oxford Cricket Club applied to the fund for a season’s worth of balls and a free full-fibre broadband service to their clubhouse.
Club Secretary Oliver Ward said: “Bicester and North Oxford Cricket Club are truly bowled over by the continued support of Gigaclear. Last season, we were able to purchase a new electronic scoreboard and this year, Gigaclear has supplied us with a complimentary full-fibre broadband service to our clubhouse.
“Not only that, but their sports fund will be supplying all our youth match balls for the 2025 season. Without support like this, we would be stumped.”

Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Bicester and North Oxford Cricket Club and I wish them every success.
“I believe the fund is helping make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.”
The Club was established in 1996 and plays home fixtures at its ground in Akeman Street, Chesterton. The club, whose first XI team plays in the ECB Home Counties Premier League, is keen to attract players of all ages and abilities.
More than 4,000 homes and businesses in communities around Bicester and north Oxford, including Launton, Langford, and Ambrosden are now able to access Gigaclear’s full-fibre broadband offering ultrafast speeds of up to 900Mbps.
