Bicester Motion, the 444-acre future mobility estate in Bicester, has agreed a partnership with Top Gear, the world’s largest motoring media brand.

The brand partnership will include Scramble residency, which is Bicester Motion’s classic vehicle and automotive enthusiast event held three times a year with curated displays and family entertainment.

To launch the partnership, Top Gear and its editorial team presented its debut display at Bicester Motion’s Scramble event, which was held on Sunday, 27 April 2025.

Top Gear was based on Main Drive and showcased the McMurtry Spéirling, which beat the long-standing 20-year-old lap record set by the 2004 Renault R24 Formula 1 car.

As part of the Stig Laps video series on the Top Gear YouTube channel, the Spéirling lapped in 55.9 secs, three seconds quicker than the Grand Prix winner. Its appearance was linked with the event’s wider Record Collection display outside Building 123, where the speed and obscure records were celebrated.

The team also displayed the Aston Martin Valhalla and Top Gear’s own-spec Royal Enfield motorbike, the striking Continental GT650, along with long-term ‘Garage’ cars, which included the MG Cyberster and Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

“By collaborating with leading brands, we aim not only to enhance the experiences for our visitors and specialists but also to align with the objectives of our partners. Together, we are dedicated to progressing the past, present, and future of mobility technology.”

Simon Bond, digital director, Top Gear, added: “The Top Gear editorial team has always loved the ethos of Bicester Motion’s Scramble and are delighted that fans were able to engage up close with the likes of the record-breaking McMurtry Spéirling and Aston Martin Valhalla. Bicester Motion’s plans for the future are compelling, and we’re looking forward to showcasing our own to the automotive community at future events.”
