Members of Frilford Heath Golf Club near Abingdon have raised an impressive £25,000 for Homeless Oxfordshire, a local charity dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness across the county.
The money was raised over the summer through a busy programme of events organised by this year’s Club Captains, Sally Adams and Tony Weir. Activities included raffles, an auction, and four flagship Captains’ Day tournaments, which brought the golfing community together in support of the cause.
Sally and Tony said: “Frilford Heath is a family friendly club that cares about our community. We recognise the important work Homeless Oxfordshire does in supporting those experiencing homelessness and we were delighted so many kind-hearted and generous members got behind our fundraising efforts.”
Homeless Oxfordshire is the largest provider of supported accommodation in the county, delivering not just safe housing but also specialist services to help people rebuild their lives. The charity supports individuals with both immediate needs such as food and shelter, and long-term challenges, tackling the underlying causes of homelessness through personalised support.

Liza Clothier, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Homeless Oxfordshire, praised the club’s efforts: “We are truly grateful to Frilford Heath Golf Club and its members for this outstanding contribution.
“These funds will help us provide safe accommodation, vital support services, and opportunities for people experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives. This partnership demonstrates the powerful impact that local communities can have when they come together.”
Frilford Heath Golf Club itself has a long history in the region, with more than a century of golf being played on its 450-acre estate. The club is home to three renowned heathland courses and prides itself on being a relaxed, family-friendly place for both members and guests.
The £25,000 raised highlights how sport and community spirit can combine to deliver life-changing support for those in need.
