The Ivy Oxford Brasserie is turning tradition upside down this October with a limited-edition dessert that’s sure to surprise even its most devoted diners.
From 04 to 25 October, the restaurant will serve the Shepherd’s Pie Dessert — a sweet, seasonal reinvention of one of The Ivy’s most iconic dishes.
Fans of The Ivy’s famed Shepherd’s Pie are in for a treat — quite literally — as the classic savoury favourite is transformed into an indulgent pudding designed to both tantalise and confound the senses.
Available at The Ivy Oxford Brasserie and other Ivy Collection restaurants nationwide, the dessert brings a sense of playful creativity to the brand’s menu this autumn.
Despite its convincing appearance, there isn’t a single pea or potato in sight. Every element of the dish has been crafted in sweet form, with a fluffy carrot cake base concealing a silky melting chocolate dome filled with creamy chocolate ice cream.
It’s topped with whipped cream — doubling as the ‘mashed potato’ — alongside a digestive biscuit crumb and sprigs of candied rosemary. A warm chocolate sauce and a bottle of “Worcester sauce” made from maple syrup complete the illusion.

“The Ivy Shepherd’s Pie has always been one of The Ivy’s most loved dishes, so we wanted to have some fun with it and surprise our guests in a way that still feels true to our heritage.
“By reimagining it as a dessert, we’ve taken the comfort and nostalgia people associate with the classic and given it a playful, seasonal twist. It’s indulgent, a little unexpected, and above all – delicious.”
