Whistlers Restaurant, a much-loved independent dining spot in the heart of Chipping Norton, has been sold to new ownership in a deal brokered by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.
Known for its warm character, loyal customer base, and welcoming atmosphere, Whistlers has long been a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Under the ownership of Nathan Phelps and Kerry Foley, the restaurant has enjoyed several successful years, establishing itself as a key part of the town’s dining scene.
After building Whistlers into a thriving business, Nathan and Kerry have decided to embark on new ventures. In a joint statement, they said:
“Whistlers has been a huge part of our lives and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built here. Chipping Norton is a special place and we’re grateful to the community for their support over the years. We’re excited for what’s next and wish the new owner every success.”
The restaurant has been acquired by Marco Bodini, an experienced hospitality operator who plans to breathe new life into the venue with a fresh concept and interior refurbishment.
“I’m thrilled to be taking on Whistlers and bringing something new to Chipping Norton,” said Marco. “It’s a beautiful town with a vibrant local scene, and I look forward to creating a space that reflects that energy and welcomes both locals and visitors alike.”
Christie & Co’s Tim Widdows, Associate Director who oversaw the sale, noted that the property attracted significant attention from interested buyers.
“Whistlers attracted strong interest from a wide range of operators, which is a testament to the resilience of the market and the appeal of well-located, characterful sites like this,” said Widdows. “It has been a pleasure working with Nathan and Kerry, and we’re excited to see what Marco brings to the next chapter of this much-loved restaurant.”
While the sale price remains undisclosed, the transaction highlights the continued strength of the Oxfordshire hospitality sector and Chipping Norton’s growing appeal as a destination for quality food and drink experiences.
Whistlers Restaurant is now preparing for its next chapter under Marco’s leadership, with plans to reopen following a refurbishment later this year.
