Oxford residents are being invited to choose where the city’s much-loved festive bus will tour this Christmas, as public voting officially opens for the 2025 Christmas Light Bus route.
Following its glittering appearance at the city’s Christmas Light Festival last weekend (14 and 15 November), the specially decorated City Sightseeing Oxford bus is set to return next month, bringing seasonal cheer to communities across the city.
Organised by Oxford Bus Company, City Sightseeing Oxford and Thames Travel, in partnership with Get Radio, the Christmas Light Bus will once again illuminate neighbourhoods with hundreds of twinkling lights and a soundtrack of Christmas classics.

The bus will tour across four evenings—12, 13, 19 and 20 December—between 4.00pm and 8.00pm, making selected stops based on the results of the public vote.
Each stop will see volunteers from Oxford Bus Group handing out treats to visitors, with vegan and gluten-free options available to ensure everyone can join in the festivities.
The annual event has become a highlight of Oxford’s seasonal celebrations, drawing hundreds of families eager to see the brightly lit bus glide through their neighbourhood.
Luke Marion, Managing Director at Oxford Bus Group, said: “This time of year is always a special one for the community and us as a community-spirited business. The Christmas Light Bus spreads so much festive joy and gives the community something to look forward to.
It’s not possible to visit every single area, but we’re offering people the opportunity to have a say in where we go and I’d encourage people to get involved and vote for their neighborhood.”
Two final routes will be created based on the most popular submissions. Voting closes at 11.59pm on 30 November, with the winning routes announced on 08 December through the Oxford Bus Company website and its social media channels.
Each participant is allowed one vote, with duplicates removed to ensure fairness. Oxford Bus Company also reserves the right to rule out any locations it determines unsuitable for the bus to safely visit.
Residents can find full details about the Christmas Light Bus and cast their vote by visiting the official Oxford Bus Company webpage.
