Oxford High School has met all required standards in its latest inspection, with inspectors identifying the empowerment of pupils as a significant strength across the school.

The assessment, carried out by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, reviewed both the prep and senior sections of the school and highlighted student responsibility, initiative and confidence as standout features of school life.

Inspectors said:

“Leaders’ empowerment of pupils to accept responsibility and show initiative is a significant strength of the school. Pupils learn a variety of skills needed for their future lives, become more self-confident and develop their self-knowledge and self-esteem.

“They contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in the locality and society more widely.”

The report also noted strong academic outcomes, stating that pupils typically perform above the national average at GCSE and A level.

Teaching was described as inspiring and varied, with inspectors observing that pupils are inquisitive, articulate and confident in applying knowledge creatively while working collaboratively.

The report added that classroom provision effectively supports pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including those with Education, Health and Care plans.

Inspectors also highlighted the school’s inclusive environment, noting that mutual respect between pupils from different backgrounds is authentic and supportive.

Marina Gardiner Legge, Head of Oxford High School, said:

“I am delighted to share that Oxford High School has met all the requirements of our latest ISI inspection. I am particularly pleased that the inspectors officially recognised our commitment to student empowerment as a significant strength.

“While we are proud that the report highlights our academic results, I am equally heartened to see our authentic inclusive culture and our ‘inspiring and varied’ teaching celebrated so clearly.”

The inspection also praised pastoral care, noting that the school provides a nurturing environment that supports emotional resilience and positive relationships.

Oxford High School has announced upcoming open events for prospective families, with Pre-Prep and Prep School visits scheduled for 07 May 2026, and Senior and Sixth Form events planned for 24 April and 12 June 2026.

Part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, Oxford High School provides education for girls aged four to 19 in Oxford.
