Operation Mincemeat will open at New Theatre Oxford next week as the Olivier Award-winning production begins its first UK tour.
The musical will run in Oxford from 31 March to 04 April, bringing one of the West End’s most successful recent productions to the city for a limited engagement.
The production has attracted 113 five-star reviews since its London run and has built a strong reputation for combining comedy, music and wartime history.
Set in 1943, the show tells the true story of the British intelligence operation that used a stolen corpse and fabricated identity papers to deceive Nazi forces during the Second World War.
The plot is based on Operation Mincemeat, widely regarded as one of Britain’s most remarkable wartime deception missions.

Oxford has a direct historical link to the story through Charles Cholmondeley, one of the operation’s principal architects, who studied at University of Oxford before helping devise the plan.
The Oxford run also carries a contemporary local connection through Zoë Roberts, who is originally from Oxford and co-founded comedy group SpitLip.
Roberts is part of the writing and performance team behind the musical, which has become known for its satirical style and fast-paced storytelling.
Producers say the Oxford performances are expected to attract strong demand as audiences seek tickets for one of the season’s most talked-about touring productions.
The musical’s success in London has led to sold-out performances and major critical acclaim, helping establish it as one of the strongest recent additions to British musical theatre.
Tickets for the Oxford performances remain available through the theatre’s booking platform.
