Experience Oxfordshire is expanding the spring and summer schedule for Oxford Official Walking Tours as longer days and increased visitor demand mark the start of the city’s peak tourism season.
The award-winning walking tours, operated by Experience Oxfordshire, are designed for both visitors and residents, offering guided insight into the city’s history, landmarks and cultural heritage.
The most popular option remains the Oxford University and City Walking Tour, where guides explain the collegiate structure of University of Oxford while sharing historical details, local stories and lesser-known facts about the city.
Scheduled tours currently run four times daily, with an additional Saturday departure, but this will increase to six tours a day during the summer holiday period.
Alongside the main city route, themed tours continue to attract strong interest from visitors looking to explore Oxford through literature, film and television.
Among the most popular is the Harry Potter Highlights Walking Tour, a monthly Saturday afternoon experience that introduces participants to locations linked to the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film series and other well-known Oxford landmarks.
The Oxford On Screen Walking Tour, scheduled twice weekly, focuses on locations featured in productions including Saltburn, Wonka, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Inspector Morse, alongside other titles filmed in the city.
Literary visitors can also join the C.S Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien Walking Tour, which explores Oxford’s links to C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien, including places associated with their academic and creative lives.
Hayley Beer-Gamage said the Easter period signals the beginning of the main tourism season.
“The Easter holiday marks the true beginning of the tourism season, as longer spring days draw us into summer and invite people to experience everything Oxfordshire has to offer.”
Oxford Official Walking Tours received Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award in 2025, placing the attraction among the top 10 per cent of experiences worldwide based on visitor reviews.
All tours are limited to 20 people per group, with private and tailored bookings also available.
