Bidwells has launched a new full-service residential property agency in Oxford, bringing sales, lettings and new homes together under one integrated offer for the first time in the city.

The move reflects growing demand in one of the UK’s most undersupplied housing markets, where rising population and limited stock continue to drive activity across the sector. The new Oxford team combines three specialist areas, led by Maxine Reynolds (sales), Nick Jones (lettings) and Iain Powis (new homes).

Mr Jones joins following Bidwells’ acquisition of his long-established business, Nicholas Jones Residential, while Mr Powis, who joined the firm in January 2025, will focus on advising developers on new-build schemes. Together, the team aims to provide continuity of advice from land acquisition through to sales and lettings.

The residential agency will work closely with Bidwells’ wider land and development division in Oxford, led by Zanna Bowles, offering clients access to planning insight, development economics and long-term pipeline visibility.

Bidwells already has a significant presence in the city, supporting clients across planning, project management, rural consultancy and science and technology sectors, including work with University of Oxford colleges and Harwell Science and Innovation Campus.

According to Bidwells’ research, Oxford remains one of the UK’s most in-demand residential markets, with average house prices currently around £478,000, up six per cent over five years. Rental values have risen more sharply, increasing by 33 per cent over the same period.

Looking ahead, the firm estimates that Greater Oxford’s population could grow by 44 per cent by 2040, rising from 240,000 to 345,000. This growth would require an additional 40,000 homes, highlighting the scale of opportunity and pressure facing the local housing market.

David Bentley, Head of Residential at Bidwells, said:

“What we are building in Oxford is a fundamentally different proposition to most residential agencies. Maxine, Nick and Iain each bring deep local expertise in their respective disciplines, but it is the combination of sales, lettings and new homes sitting alongside our land, development and planning teams that gives clients something they cannot get elsewhere.

“Oxford is one of the most supply-constrained markets in the country and the demand fundamentals are only strengthening. We are delighted to welcome them to the team and to be building this offer here.”

Founded in 1839, Bidwells is a multi-disciplinary property consultancy with more than 600 staff and over £5.2 billion in assets under management, specialising in sectors including science and technology, sustainability and modern living.
