Visitors can now combine an open-top sightseeing tour of Oxford with a visit to the city’s history museum through a new partnership between City Sightseeing Oxford and the Museum of Oxford.
The new combined ticket offers reduced-price access to both attractions, giving visitors and local residents an opportunity to explore Oxford from the city’s streets before learning more about its history and people.
Adult tickets cost £21.50, while student and senior tickets are priced at £18.50. Children’s tickets cost £13.00, with children under five travelling free.
City Sightseeing Oxford’s open-top buses operate across the city, stopping at 18 locations close to many of Oxford’s best-known attractions.
Passengers using the combined ticket can hop on and off the sightseeing bus throughout their tour, with stop 7 providing access to the Museum of Oxford.
The bus tour offers commentary in 14 languages, including Spanish, French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish and Arabic, making the experience accessible to visitors from a wide range of countries.
Once the bus tour portion of the ticket has been redeemed, visitors have three months to use the Museum of Oxford portion of their voucher.
Tickets can be purchased on the day or in advance using an online voucher. Those buying in advance must present the voucher to a City Sightseeing colleague on the day of their visit for activation.
The Museum of Oxford, managed by Oxford City Council, is the only museum dedicated to telling the story of Oxford and its people.
The museum is housed inside Oxford Town Hall and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025. Its current programme includes the Sounds of the City exhibition, which explores aspects of Oxford’s history and culture.
Kamini Patel, Retail and Tourism Manager at City Sightseeing Oxford, said the partnership would give visitors the chance to combine sightseeing with learning more about the city.
“The combined ticket offers great value and provides an opportunity for customers to learn more about Oxford’s rich culture and history,” she said.
Councillor Susan Brown, Leader of Oxford City Council and Cabinet Member for Partnership Working, Inclusive Economic Growth and Culture, said the offer could help more people discover the Museum of Oxford and the stories behind the city.
The combined ticket provides another option for visitors looking to experience several Oxford attractions through a single booking, while also offering local residents a discounted way to explore the city’s heritage.
The partnership brings together a major sightseeing operation with a council-managed museum, linking a familiar visitor experience with Oxford’s cultural history.
The Museum of Oxford is open 10.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday and more information about the museum is available at the museum’s website.
