London Basque cheesecake brand La Maritxu will open its first site outside the capital at Bicester Village on Thursday 01 October, bringing its signature cheesecakes to Oxfordshire for the first time.
The brand, founded in 2021 by husband-and-wife duo Lucia and Ignacio, has built a following for its Basque-style cheesecake, inspired by the city of Bilbao and characterised by a deeply caramelised top and creamy centre. La Maritxu currently operates cafés in London and has a central kitchen in Bethnal Green.
The Bicester Village opening will offer the cheesecake in a range of formats, from individual slices and mini cheesecakes to medium and whole cakes.

The opening menu will include La Maritxu’s Classic Basque cheesecake alongside Tiramisu and a Chocolate & Orange cheesecake created exclusively for Bicester Village. The cakes will be accompanied by tea, coffee and seasonal drinks, including Hot Chocolate & Orange Cream.
Prices announced for the opening start at £7 for a slice of the Classic cheesecake, with special-flavour slices priced at £7.50. Mini cheesecakes will start at £11 for Classic and £13 for the special flavours, while whole cakes will be priced at £45 and £50 respectively.
The new site represents La Maritxu’s first permanent location beyond London. Its existing locations include Connaught Village, Greenwich, Kingly Court in Soho and Coal Drops Yard.

The company says its cheesecakes are made using a traditional high-temperature baking method, producing the characteristic caramelised exterior and soft, creamy centre associated with Basque cheesecake.
La Maritxu will open at Bicester Village, 50 Pingle Drive, Bicester, Oxfordshire, on 01 October. The brand has announced opening hours of 9.00am to 9.00pm.
The opening follows growing interest in Basque cheesecake in the UK, with La Maritxu’s expansion beyond London marking its first move into a permanent Oxfordshire location.
