About The Bat and ball, Cuddesdon

Situated in the picturesque village of Cuddesdon, just outside Oxford, The Bat & Ball is a community pub with a rich heritage and a welcoming spirit.

Reopened in January 2025 under The Montgomery Group — the family-run team behind the restoration of The Lamb Inn in Little Milton — the inn combines traditional Cotswold character with a refreshed, contemporary feel.

Eat

Led by Head Chef Rick Owens, formerly of the two Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, the kitchen delivers an elevated take on pub dining. The menu champions classic pub favourites with a refined touch, built on the principles of seasonality, sustainability, and affordability.

Ingredients are sourced from trusted local suppliers, including The Calnan Brothers butchers, DBF Banbury, Flying Fish Seafood, and Longman’s Cheese. Guests can expect comforting dishes that celebrate honest flavours while raising the standard of what a village pub can offer.

Drink

The Bat & Ball remains true to its roots as a convivial village pub, serving well-kept ales, a carefully selected wine list, and a choice of spirits and soft drinks to suit all occasions. Whether it’s a casual pint with friends, a pre-dinner drink, or a relaxed nightcap, the atmosphere is warm, authentic, and community-driven.

Stay

For those seeking a countryside escape, The Bat & Ball offers five individually designed guest rooms. Each one is vibrant and full of character, blending bold heritage hues and Fairfax fabrics with modern comforts.

Together they capture the charm and warmth of a Cotswold home, making The Bat & Ball an inviting base for overnight stays, weekend breaks, or longer visits to Oxford and the surrounding countryside.
