Aldi is supporting a local community outreach group by donating almost 1,300 meals this festive period.
The supermarket’s Chipping Norton store is providing these meals to The Theatre Chipping Norton to be distributed to children in the local area who would be eligible for free school meals during term time.
The Theatre Chipping Norton has reported a heightened demand for their services this December. But with the help of this donation, they hope to be able to feed at least 160 children this Christmas.
All of Aldi’s 980 UK stores donate surplus food to good causes 365 days of the year, with over 27 million meals donated to good causes across the country since its partnership with Neighbourly began in 2019.
John Richardson, Regional Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “Chipping Norton Theatre is an excellent example of one of the many community groups we are incredibly proud to support.
“We know a lot of families will be struggling this winter, and that is why we are making this additional donation to help the local community in Chipping Norton this December.”
Clare O’Hara, Head of Outreach at The Theatre Chipping Norton, said: “We are very grateful for Aldi’s support during this busy period. Due to the high demand this year, it is becoming increasingly difficult for charities like ours to help those in need. But donations like this help to make all the difference.”
Aldi also recently announced its £250,000 Emergency Winter Foodbank Fund, which the supermarket has committed to donating to charities, food banks, and community groups across the UK this winter.
