A popular Sicilian bakery and pizzeria that has built a loyal following in Cambridge has opened its first Oxford location, marking the business’s expansion beyond its home city.

Aromi has opened at St Michael’s Street in Oxford city centre, bringing its handmade Sicilian food, sourdough pizza and bakery to what becomes the company’s fourth site and its first outside Cambridge.

Founded in 2013 by four family members with roots in Acireale, Sicily, Aromi has become well known in Cambridge for its Sicilian street food, pastries and slow-fermented sourdough pizza.

The Oxford venue serves pizza by the slice and whole pizzas alongside freshly baked focaccia, arancini, cannoli, tiramisù and speciality coffee. The business says all food is prepared on site each day, with its signature pizza dough fermented for 48 hours before baking.

Director Francesco Genovese said the company was looking forward to becoming part of Oxford’s food scene.

He said: “We’re excited to become part of the Oxford community and share everything that makes us who we are. From the dough we ferment for 48 hours to the gelato made fresh every morning and the family recipes passed down from Sicily, every detail matters. We can’t wait to share the full Sicilian experience with Oxford.”

The company said Oxford was chosen because of its reputation for food and culture, describing it as a natural companion to its established Cambridge locations.

The new venue is open daily from 8.00am to 6.00pm at 1–3 St Michael’s Street, serving breakfast, lunch and takeaway food throughout the day.
