For the past few months, painter Robyn Danely has been working en plein air as Artist in Residence at Worton Kitchen Garden, creating a luminous series of works inspired by the farm’s flourishing gardens, flowers, and produce.

Her residency, which continues through October, has resulted in a body of work that captures the life and rhythm of the much-loved Oxfordshire destination — a working farm, restaurant, and market garden near Cassington.

“It has been a wonderful experience being the artist in residence at the Worton Kitchen Garden,” said Danely.

“Beyond the opportunity to paint the flowers, produce, and livestock of this busy farm, I’ve been able to immerse myself in its rhythms, sounds, and complexity: pigs are rooting in their pen, women are shelling beans, bread is being baked, guinea hens are squawking underfoot, and dahlias are exploding into their improbably dense geometry as I observe from my easel.

“Everything I’ve painted feels like a reward for slowing down and paying attention.”

The result is an exhibition of richly coloured, floral paintings now on display at Worton Kitchen Garden and open to the public until 31 October. The exhibition celebrates both the landscape’s abundance and the artist’s deep attentiveness to the small details of everyday rural life.

As part of the programme, visitors are also invited to a Painting Demonstration with Robyn Danely on Thursday 24 October, 10.00am to 12.00pm, offering the chance to watch her creative process unfold in situ amidst the vibrant garden setting.

The exhibition is open Wednesday to Sunday during Worton’s regular hours, providing visitors with a chance to experience art and nature in harmony.

“Everything I’ve painted feels like a reward for slowing down and paying attention,” Danely reflected — a sentiment that captures both her philosophy as an artist and the tranquil charm of Worton itself.

The exhibition is open to visitors until 31 October at Worton Kitchen Garden, located near Cassington, Oxfordshire (OX26 4SU). It can be viewed Wednesday to Sunday during Worton’s regular opening hours, inviting guests to explore the artist’s work in the tranquil, garden-filled setting.
