Aureus School in Didcot has marked its second annual Culture Week, transforming last year’s successful Culture Day into a week-long celebration of the diversity that defines its school community.
Throughout the week, students and staff explored global cultures through food, music, stories, and traditions, reflecting the many backgrounds represented within the school.

The event culminated in a colourful day of dress, with students wearing football shirts and traditional clothing from across the world — from the UK and Ukraine to Nigeria and Zimbabwe — creating a vibrant visual display of inclusion and pride.
Interactive activities brought the week to life, including a visit from The Brick People, who helped students explore the cultural significance of homes through Lego building and stop-motion animation.

Another highlight was The Life of a Chickpea, an imaginative project using the humble legume as a metaphor for diversity, cooperation, and mutual respect — key elements of British values.
Headteacher Kirsty Rogers praised the students and staff for embracing the spirit of the event: “Culture Week has been a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, share our diverse backgrounds and heritage, and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make our school so special.”

The initiative was originally launched by Year 11 student Angelina, whose idea for a Culture Day last year inspired this year’s expanded programme. The result was a vibrant and engaging week that highlighted Aureus School’s ongoing commitment to diversity, understanding, and unity.
