Dance enthusiasts were treated to an evening of performance and creativity as Aureus School staged its annual Dance Showcase at Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot.

Held on Friday 13 March, the event featured performances from pupils in Years 7 to 11 and celebrated choreography developed through lessons, enrichment activities and student-led projects.

The showcase also welcomed former pupils back to the stage, highlighting the school’s continuing connection with past students.

“The Aureus Dance Showcase is a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and performance, bringing together students from across the school to share their work on a professional stage,” said Amy King, who organised the event.

“The show featured a diverse range of pieces created through curriculum study, enrichment clubs, and student-led choreography.”

Around 200 people attended the performance, which included a guest appearance by ML7 Dance.

The dance company is run by a former Aureus student who has since established a successful local dance school.

“The company is run by a former Aureus student who has gone on to establish a thriving, local dance school, and it was a real celebration of our community to welcome them back to perform,” explained Miss King.

“Their piece brought brilliant energy to the event, and offered our students an inspiring example of where passion for dance can lead.”

The event formed part of the school’s wider performing arts programme and gave students the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre environment.
