Construction students in Oxfordshire are set to gain valuable on-site experience thanks to a new partnership between Beard Construction and Abingdon & Witney College.

The family-owned firm announced on 02 September 2025 that it will support the T-Level Technical Qualification in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction, beginning in the 2025/26 academic year.

The two-year collaboration will see Beard provide every student on the course with hands-on placements across its Oxfordshire sites, including work on the RAAC remediation project at the college’s Witney campus.

Dean Averies, director at Beard’s Oxford office, said:

“We’re passionate about developing the next generation of construction professionals at Beard, and partnering with Abingdon & Witney College on their construction course means we can directly engage and support future talent.”

As part of the programme, students will attend culture and values talks, meet Beard’s senior team, and take part in regular breakfast meetings designed to connect classroom learning with career aspirations.

Neil Benjamin-Miller, Head of Faculty for Construction at Abingdon & Witney College, described the partnership as “invaluable real-world experience” that bridges the gap between study and industry.

T-Levels, introduced as a high-quality alternative to A-Levels, combine academic study with practical experience, offering new routes into employment, apprenticeships or further learning in construction and the built environment.

The initiative reflects Beard’s long-standing ethos of investing in young talent, with the company already known for hosting industry placements, traineeships, and year-in-industry students.
