Marriott has opened its midrange Courtyard brand in the city of Oxford.
The 140-key Courtyard by Marriott Oxford City Centre is on Paradise Street between two branches of Castle Mill Stream.
Rooms have been designed by Urban Innovations in neutral colours and feature contemporary artworks depicting the local area. Some have views of the nearby Oxford Castle, while others look across an internal courtyard.
The hotel has one 14 sqm meeting room. Guests are also able to work at “flexible” spaces in the lobby.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at The Kitchen and Bar, which Marriott says will focus on healthy dishes. The top floor also has a roof terrace with views over the city.
“The hotel couldn’t be better located for discovering Oxford, sitting in the midst of the world-renowned university city,” commented John Licence, Vice President for Premium and Select Brands at Marriott International Europe.
Marriott already has a Courtyard property in Abingdon, south of central Oxford.
The opening brings the Courtyard brand’s footprint in Europe to over 60 hotels.
Last year Marriott announced plans to open five new Courtyard properties in the UK, in cities including London, Glasgow and Oxford.
The company also plans to open its first Courtyard hotels in Romania, Armenia, Croatia, Finland, Iceland, Georgia and Macedonia.
