A major night of funk, soul and house music is set to take over O2 Academy Oxford on 11 December, as Craig Charles brings his Funk & Soul House Party to the city as part of his Extra Funkin’ Groovy Tour.
The acclaimed DJ and broadcaster will headline an evening of high-energy grooves, joined by Toby Spin and live music from Beatles Dub Club for the Oxford date, promising a full-throttle celebration of dancefloor sounds spanning funk, soul, disco and house.
Best known for his long-running BBC Radio 6 Music show, Craig Charles has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most influential funk and soul tastemakers.
His Funk & Soul House Party translates that radio ethos into a live setting, drawing on decades of record collecting to deliver sets packed with classic cuts, rare grooves and party anthems designed for the dancefloor.
Across the wider Extra Funkin’ Groovy Tour, live performances are provided by Cut Capers, whose brass-driven fusion of funk, hip hop and soul has earned them a strong following on the UK festival circuit.
For the Oxford date, Beatles Dub Club take on live duties, reworking well-known tracks through a blend of reggae, dub and ska influences for a distinctive, genre-spanning set tailored to the night.
Toby Spin opens the event across all tour dates, setting the tone with carefully curated selections aimed at building energy ahead of the headline set.
With more than three decades in the music industry, Craig Charles has performed at major festivals including Glastonbury and established himself as a mainstay of UK club culture.
