Grainger plc has announced the appointment of Fiona Muldoon as a Non-Executive Director, with effect from 15 April 2026, strengthening its board as the company continues to grow within the UK’s build-to-rent sector.
Muldoon will succeed Justin Read as Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee following his retirement from the Board on 18 June 2026 after nine years of service.
In addition to her leadership of the Audit & Risk Committee, she will also join the Remuneration, Nominations and Responsible Business Committees.
A Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, Muldoon brings extensive experience at both board and executive level, particularly in capital markets, risk management, governance and sustainability.
She currently serves on the boards of Beazley plc, where she chairs the Risk Committee, and Admiral Group plc, where she chairs the Audit Committee.
Her previous roles include Chief Executive Officer of FBD Holdings plc from 2015 to 2020, as well as Director of Credit Institutions and Insurance Supervision at the Central Bank of Ireland.
Earlier in her career, Muldoon spent 17 years with XL Group and also served as a Non-Executive Director at the Bank of Ireland, where she contributed across all board committees and chaired the Sustainability Committee.
Commenting on the appointment, Simon Fraser, Chairman of Grainger, said:
“We are very pleased to welcome Fiona Muldoon to the Board as Chair of our Audit & Risk Committee and Senior Independent Director, bringing a significant amount of experience and expertise in finance and consumer facing financial services.
“We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Justin Read for his unwavering commitment and support to the business over his tenure on the Board, as Chair of Audit & Risk Committee and as Senior Independent Director, over which time we have seen tremendous growth and transformation.”
Fiona Muldoon added:
“I am delighted to join Grainger’s Board and I look forward to taking on the roles of Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.
“Grainger is a brilliant business with strong future prospects to deliver value for shareholders and renters alike. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members as well as the wider executive team.”
The Board has confirmed that Muldoon is independent under the UK Corporate Governance Code (2024) and has recent and relevant financial experience.
