
Families looking for autumn fun will find plenty of seasonal trails, activities, and spooky surprises at National Trust places across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, and Oxfordshire this October half term. From ghostly bunny hunts to bat-spotting and creative art sessions, there’s something for all ages to enjoy.
Hughenden – We’re Going on a Ghost Hunt™

Based on The Bunny Adventures children’s books from Bloomsbury, with illustrations by Laura Hughes, Hughenden’s Halloween trail takes little ones on a search for hidden ghosts around the gardens.
Families can choose a bunny name, play Halloween hoopla, race broomsticks, and hop across stepping stones to avoid the warty toads. Once complete, children can collect a prize and join the bunnies’ celebration party. Ideal for preschoolers and children aged three to eight.

Waddesdon Manor – Haunted half term & spooky teas

Follow the Skeleton Trail, crack word puzzles, and claim a prize at the Stables Shop. Indoors, spot ghostly figures in the House and explore the Skull Shack to discover hidden boxes, microscopes, and nature’s secrets. For a seasonal treat, visitors can book a wickedly fun Halloween afternoon tea.
Cliveden – Autumn adventures

Basildon Park – Patterns in Nature

Celebrate autumn with creative art sessions and a seasonal trail inspired by the woodland’s russet tones and swirling leaves.
Greys Court – Batty for bats

Discover the many species of bats that call Greys Court home. Families can learn fascinating facts about these nocturnal creatures, which roost in the outbuildings and old trees around the estate.
