Kingham Hill School in Kingham near Chipping Norton has announced that it will be joining the Dean Close Foundation in July 2025, in a significant step that will strengthen the independent education across the region.
Based on shared values and a commitment to developing the unique potential in every pupil, this is a very exciting development both for Kingham Hill and the Dean Close Foundation.
Kingham Hill educates 325 pupils aged 11 to 18 in a beautiful 105-acre campus in the Cotswolds, and the decision to join the Foundation provides a wide range of opportunities for pupils and staff.
Mr Pete Last, Head of Kingham Hill School, said: “In joining such a dynamic and forward-thinking family of schools, this will provide exciting further opportunities for our pupils and staff, from academic synergies and co-curricular collaborations to expansion of our careers and futures network.”
Warden of the Dean Close Foundation, Emma Taylor, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kingham Hill into the Foundation. Our shared values and educational philosophy make this a very natural partnership that will bring even greater breadth and quality of opportunity for pupils and staff.”
Kathryn Carden, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Dean Close Foundation, said: “This partnership will enhance the education and holistic development of pupils in our care and will add to the financial strength, stability and security of both Kingham Hill and the Dean Close Foundation.”
Kingham Hill’s outstanding facilities support high-quality academic, co-curricular, pastoral and boarding provision, and the School achieves an impressive record in university applications, both in the UK, including to Oxford and Cambridge, and internationally to countries such as the US.
The School is set in a rural location, a few minutes from Kingham Train Station, 25 minutes from Oxford and 80 minutes from London Paddington, and among the School’s specialist facilities for sport, the performing arts, and boarding, Kingham Hill also has its own farm.
Dean Close is renowned for its exceptional ethos and strong values, and outstanding provision across academic, pastoral, co-curricular and all-through boarding.
Among the highest-achieving schools for academic value added, with an enviable record in university admissions and success in its co-curricular provision, the Dean Close Foundation will become a family of six coeducational schools and seven nurseries educating approximately 1800 girls and boys across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and South Wales.
