Lowe & Oliver has been recognised with a Highly Commended honour in the ‘Contractor of the Year – Staff Development (including Apprenticeships)’ category at the Electrical Industry Awards 2025, organised by Electrical Times (ET).
The award highlights the Oxford-based company’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of electrical engineers through its long-established apprenticeship programme, which has become a cornerstone of its success.
Judges praised Lowe & Oliver for its exceptional investment in training, upskilling, and supporting young professionals, helping to ensure a skilled and future-proof workforce for the industry.
Central to this achievement is the company’s industry-leading ‘centre of excellence’, now fully operational and providing dozens of apprentices with advanced hands-on experience, mentorship, and technical expertise.

The centre represents Lowe & Oliver’s ongoing commitment to innovation in education and its belief that the best results come from developing talent internally.
Fred Lowe, Director of Lowe & Oliver, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be recognised in this way. Our apprentices are at the heart of our business, and this commendation is a real credit to the teams across our sites who invest time and energy into developing talent the right way.
As a company with over 100 years of heritage, we see it as our responsibility to train the next generation and pass on the standards of professionalism that define our work.”
Founded in Oxford in 1923, Lowe & Oliver has long been a leader in electrical and mechanical services, serving clients across education, heritage, and commercial sectors.
Its apprenticeship programme continues to strengthen the company’s reputation for craftsmanship, safety, and reliability, while providing valuable career pathways for young engineers.
The company extends its thanks to all staff, apprentices, mentors, and training partners who contribute to the continued success of the programme and to building a stronger, more sustainable future for the electrical industry.
