After more than a decade rising steadily through the UK folk roots scene, acclaimed Dorset-based duo Ninebarrow — Jon Whitley and Jay LaBouchardiere — will perform at Stowe School, Buckinghamshire, on Friday 07 November 2025 (7.30pm, doors 7.00pm), as part of their national tour.

Since leaving their respective careers as a teacher and GP in 2016 to pursue music full time, Ninebarrow have earned national acclaim for their breath-taking harmonies, evocative songwriting, and connection to the British landscape.

Their distinctive sound has been described by Mark Radcliffe as “like two halves of one voice” and by Kate Rusby as “absolutely amazing.”

The duo’s remarkable journey began with a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nomination in 2017, followed by numerous accolades including Best Duo (Folking.com Awards 2019) and Best Album (Bright Young Folk and Folking.com 2021).

Their five critically acclaimed albums showcase both original songs and reimagined traditional folk, inspired by nature, heritage and place.

Their 2021 album A Pocket Full of Acorns inspired the creation of The Ninebarrow Woodland, a three-acre site in north Dorset where they planted over 1,000 native trees and 200 shrubs — a living legacy that now influences their latest record, The Colour of Night (2023).

Jon and Jay continue to draw inspiration from their surroundings and community, earning features on BBC Countryfile and extensive radio play across BBC Radio 2, 3, 4 and 6.

Tickets for the Stowe School concert are available on Ninebarrow’s website.
