Oxford Bus Company will run a special shuttle bus service this weekend to help runners, volunteers, and supporters travel to and from the Oxford Half Marathon.

Services will operate from both Pear Tree Park & Ride and Redbridge Park & Ride sites, as well as a temporary Park & Ride at Unipart, all running to University Parks.

Shuttles start at 7.00am on Sunday, and participants are advised to arrive by 7.30am to ensure enough time to reach the start line for the charity run.

Among the thousands of participants will be Oxford Bus Company driver Mark Temple, who is running the 13.1-mile route through Oxford’s scenic streets and landmarks in support of Sobell House, which provided end-of-life care for his father and his wife’s grandmother. The company is sponsoring his fundraising efforts.

Mark’s athletic achievements include completing a half ironman event in Somerset last year. Next year, he plans to take on a new challenge — cycling from Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, to Oxford’s Kassam Stadium in a single day to raise further funds for charity.

Luke Marion, Managing Director of Oxford Bus Company, said:

“More than 10,000 people are set to take part in this weekend’s Oxford Half Marathon, a wonderful event where runners represent a variety of charities through a scenic route across our city.

“As was the case in previous years, we are keen to support the event and are providing an increased Park & Ride service to provide convenient and affordable travel.

“We encourage people to plan their journey in advance and check the timetables on our website, and we of course wish all participants, including Mark, the very best of luck.”
