Oxford Bus Company is, once again, set to play a prominent role in this year’s Oxford Pride celebrations, with its popular rainbow-branded bus returning for a third consecutive year.
The colourful electric vehicle will lead the Oxford Pride parade on Saturday, departing from Paradise Square at 11.00am as thousands of people gather to celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community across Oxfordshire.
After leading the procession, the rainbow bus will leave the parade route at Cornmarket Street before travelling to the Radcliffe Camera, where it will provide transport for less able-bodied attendees back to Paradise Square, helping ensure the event remains accessible to all.
Oxford Bus Company will also have a presence at Paradise Square throughout the day, with staff available to share timetable information, answer questions about local services, and distribute branded merchandise.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Oxford Bus Company, said:
“We’re delighted to be supporting Oxford Pride this weekend, demonstrating our support for the LGBTQIA+ community in Oxfordshire.
“We’re looking forward to creating a friendly and welcoming space, engaging with the community in a positive manner, and answering questions about our services and timetables.
“The electric rainbow-emblazoned bus has become a popular part of Oxford Pride, and it will again play a key role this year.”
Oxford Bus Company has been a long-standing supporter of Oxford Pride, one of Oxfordshire’s largest annual community celebrations, which brings together thousands of people from across the county.
Following the parade, a programme of community activities and live performances will take place across Leiden Square and Paradise Street from midday until 8.00pm.
The celebrations will continue into the evening with a party in Paradise Street running from 7.30pm until 10.00pm.
Oxford Pride is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to celebrating and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community throughout Oxfordshire. The event has grown significantly since its first Pride Day in 2003, with the parade becoming a central feature of the celebrations from 2008 onwards.
This weekend’s festivities are expected to attract visitors from across the region, with Oxford Bus Company’s rainbow bus once again providing a visible symbol of support, inclusion and community spirit.
