Pulhams is launching a new bus service linking Cheltenham, Witney and Oxford later this month as part of its expanding regional network.
The new X52 service will begin operating from 29 March, running approximately every two hours from Monday to Saturday and offering a faster journey time between Witney and Oxford city centre.
Two return journeys will also operate on Sundays until May, when an expanded summer timetable is expected to begin.
The route was previously operated as the S2 service by Stagecoach before being put out to tender and awarded to Pulhams.
It also marks a return for a historic route previously known as the 853 service under Swanbrook Transport, which was acquired by Pulhams in 2024.
Luke Marion, managing director of Pulhams, said:
“We’re pleased to have been awarded the tender and to be able to maintain this important link between Cheltenham, Witney and Oxford.
“This is a key commuter route used by many and we have adjusted the service to provide a faster time between Witney and Oxford, providing passengers with an efficient and reliable service.
“We look forward to welcoming new customers to our network as we continue to expand and grow.”
From Monday to Friday, the first bus will leave Cheltenham Royal Well Bus Station at 6.27am and arrive at Gloucester Green Bus Station at 8.35am.
At weekends and on public holidays, the first departure from Cheltenham will be at 6.47am, arriving in Oxford at 8.40am.
The route will serve several communities including Andoversford, Northleach, Burford and Eynsham.
Pulhams says the launch comes during a wider growth phase that includes an £8.17 million investment in 15 electric buses and depot upgrades, including new charging infrastructure.
Since joining Go-Ahead Group in 2023, the operator has added more than 60 vehicles and recruited more than 60 new staff.
The company, founded in 1880, continues to expand its services across the Cotswolds and surrounding counties.
