Reverend & The Makers have announced a major UK tour this November, with a stop at the O2 Academy Oxford on 21 November.
The Sheffield band return to the road following a string of sold out intimate shows and a landmark hometown performance last summer, where they played to 30,000 fans at Sheffield’s Rock N Roll Circus to celebrate two decades together.
The newly announced 13-date tour comes alongside the release of their upcoming album Is This How Happiness Feels?, due out on 08 May via Distiller Records. The record follows the band’s 2023 Top 10 album Heatwave In The Cold North and is described as their most musically ambitious project to date.
Blending uplifting, vintage-inspired soul with contemporary lyrical storytelling, the 13-track album sees frontman Jon McClure at his most open and expansive. Reflecting on the record, McClure said:
“This album has been a labour of love owing to personal reasons but has emerged as a joyous triumph. It’s easily the best thing we’ve ever done and will surprise a few people too.”
The album features previously released singles ‘Late Night Phone Call’, ‘Haircut’ featuring Vicky McClure, ‘UFO’ and ‘Twenty-Seven Past Midnight’. It was produced by Danny Lafrombé alongside McClure.
Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10.00am on Friday 24 April, with strong demand expected following the band’s recent run of sold-out shows.
Reverend & The Makers have enjoyed consistent chart success, with all seven of their studio albums reaching the UK Top 20. Their previous release, Heatwave In The Cold North, peaked at No. 6 on the Official Charts, marking their first Top 10 entry since their 2007 debut The State of Things.
The band’s current line up includes Jon McClure (lead vocals), Thomas Dibb (guitar), Laura McClure (keys/vocals), Antonia Pooles (bass) and Adam Crofts (drums).
With a new album on the horizon and a full UK tour lined up, the Oxford date is set to be one of the highlights of the band’s return to the live stage.
