Westgate Oxford is set to transform into a wonderland of surprises this October half term, hosting free activities for the whole family – from treasure trails and creative workshops to the centre’s first-ever ‘dogwalk.’
The highlight of the week is Hatter’s Hunt, a brand new permanent Alice in Wonderland-themed trail created by The Story Museum. Launching on 25 October, the trail invites guests to follow a whimsical journey of clues, riddles, and surprises to uncover five hidden plaques around the centre.

Trail maps are available for free at the Guest Services desk opposite JD Sports, and completed maps can be returned for a special prize.
From 27 to 31 October, the Crafting Club returns inside Social Street Food (11.00am to 5.00pm daily), offering Halloween-themed activities such as bracelet and necklace beading, mask decorating, colouring, and painting.
To wrap up the festivities, the centre will celebrate its new dog-friendly amenities — including water bowls, treats, and waste bag dispensers — with the first Westgate Woofer’s Mutt Strutt on 1 November. Dogs and their owners are invited to strut their stuff on a red carpet ‘dogwalk’ in Middle Square, with goodies provided by premium pet brand Butternut Box.
Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, said:
“We know how difficult it is to keep the little ones entertained during the school holidays, so we’re thrilled to be able to offer a selection of free, family-friendly activities that can be enjoyed no matter the weather.
“We’re particularly excited about the launch of our Hatter’s Hunt trail, set to immerse families in a world of riddles and surprises. The trail draws inspiration from our existing connection with the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland novel, as our Roof Terrace features the beloved Looking for Alice ox, kindly gifted by the Lewis Carroll Society.
“Beyond the trail and crafting event, we’re delighted to formally welcome our four-legged friends with our first ever Mutt Strut, and we encourage guests to bring their dogs along for the red carpet event.”
Guests can make their visit even easier by travelling via Oxford’s Park & Ride services, which are offering free bus fare for three months from 29 October. Westgate PLUS+ Members can also take advantage of the complimentary PLUS+ Concierge service, with shopping bags delivered directly to their homes.
