Plans for the next phase of a major housing development in Didcot have been approved, with 172 new homes set to be delivered at Valley Park.
Persimmon Homes Wessex has received reserved matters approval from Vale of White Horse District Council for the latest phase of the large-scale development, which will continue to expand housing and community infrastructure in the Oxfordshire town.
The newly approved phase will comprise 172 homes, with 61 properties allocated to a local housing association, supporting the delivery of affordable housing. The scheme will follow the design principles established in earlier phases of Valley Park, in line with the site-wide Design Code, ensuring consistency across the growing community.
Construction work on Phases 3A and 3B is expected to begin within weeks, with the first residents anticipated to move in later this year.
The approval comes shortly after construction began on a new three-form entry primary school, which will include a nursery and community-use spaces. The school is being built adjacent to Common Park and the Local Centre, further strengthening Valley Park’s community infrastructure.
When complete, Valley Park will deliver a total of 4,254 homes, alongside two primary schools, a special educational needs (SEN) school, local centres and sports facilities. The development is designed to create a sustainable and well-connected community, supporting long-term growth in Didcot.
Persimmon Homes Wessex, an accredited five-star housebuilder, currently has homes available for purchase on the open market at Valley Park, with prices starting from £216,995. Its sister brand, Charles Church, is also offering premium homes at the site, with prices from £384,995.
Commenting on the approval, Seb Spiller, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Wessex, said:
“Valley Park has been a great success story so far and we are making swift progress on delivering on our commitment to bring new housing and infrastructure to Didcot.
“Therefore, securing another reserved matters consent was an early Christmas present that gave local contractors and residents confidence that the progress on expanding Didcot in a sustainable and advantageous way will continue.
“As with previous phases, we have ensured our latest application will be well integrated into the wider development with strong links to community focal points, whilst continuing to deliver high-quality homes for our customers.”
