Missing Bean has opened a new café in Charlbury, expanding its Oxfordshire presence with a venue that combines speciality coffee, freshly baked food and community-focused events.
The independent coffee business, which now operates six cafés across Oxfordshire, says the Charlbury site reflects its continued focus on ethically sourced coffee and locally rooted hospitality.
Coffee served at the new café is made using beans sourced from farmers around the world and roasted five days a week at Missing Bean’s East Oxford roastery. The company said its supply chain prioritises sustainability, direct trade and fair payment for producers.
Located in the Cotswolds, the new café offers a range of pastries baked in-house daily, including banana bread and other sweet treats made with locally sourced ingredients. Savoury options include toasties made with Missing Bean sourdough and freshly baked focaccia.

The Charlbury venue joins existing Missing Bean sites in Oxford, Abingdon and Woodstock, alongside the company’s roastery on Magdalen Road.
Community events are also planned for the new location, with the café’s Study Room set to host workshops, meetings and pop-up exhibitions throughout the year. These include co-founder Vicky Troth’s pop-up during Oxford Art Week in May, where handmade ceramics and other crafted pieces will be displayed from 09 to 17 May.
The company has also partnered with Oxford-based tea workshop group Tiny Teahouse for a Matcha Masterclass event.
One half of Missing Bean’s founding members, Vicky Troth adds: “Charlbury is my hometown, so when it came to opening a new site for Missing Bean, it only made sense to do it here.
“The site we’ve chosen is charming; and we’re only an hour outside London, placing us in a location that’s easily accessible to everyone. With the support of the local community, we’ve created a space that celebrates exceptional coffee, where people and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do.”
Missing Bean also continues to sell speciality beans, brewing equipment and subscription services online, with new coffees expected from its direct-trade farm in Peru and a limited-edition release from Rwanda.
