The LEGO Group has officially opened a new store in Oxford city centre at Westgate Oxford, welcoming hundreds of fans on opening day and marking its 22nd store in the UK.

The 250 sqm store opened to strong excitement on launch day, with families and LEGO enthusiasts queuing to be among the first to step inside and explore the new space. Designed as more than a traditional retail outlet, the store offers an immersive experience combining shopping, creativity and hands-on play.

Located within Westgate Oxford shopping centre, the new store features a range of interactive elements aimed at encouraging creativity across all ages.

These include the popular Pick a Brick Wall, where visitors can select individual LEGO elements, and the Build a Minifigure Tower, allowing customers to customise their own characters using a wide variety of parts and accessories.

The store will also host regular monthly build events and free-play challenges, reinforcing its focus on interactive experiences rather than purely transactional retail.

Shoppers can explore a wide range of LEGO themes, including LEGO® DREAMZzz™, LEGO® Friends and LEGO® NINJAGO®, alongside a selection of retail exclusives such as the LEGO® Ideas Tintin® Moon Rocket and LEGO® Star Wars™ The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter™.

The opening day was marked by a community-focused launch event, with young LEGO fans Xavier, aged seven, and Herbie, aged five, officially helping to open the store. Their involvement added a local, family-centred moment to the launch celebrations.

Shweta Munshi, Vice President Marketing, LEGO Retail at the LEGO Group, said the Oxford store is designed to bring imagination and creativity to life for visitors of all ages.

She said: “This new store is more than just a place to buy LEGO bricks — it’s a place where imagination comes to life, and where children and adults alike can find inspiration and joy.”

Westgate Oxford said the arrival of the LEGO Group strengthens its position as a key retail and leisure destination for the city and wider region.

Clare Martin, Acting Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, said: “We are proud to bring sought-after brands like the LEGO Group to the heart of the city, and even prouder to be home to a LEGO store in Oxfordshire and the wider region.

“The buzz surrounding LEGO’s arrival has been fantastic, and we are delighted to see that energy come to life at the official launch today.”

The opening has also created 25 new jobs locally, adding to Westgate Oxford’s growing mix of global retail and experiential brands.

Now open seven days a week, the new store is expected to become a popular destination for families, tourists and LEGO fans, offering a blend of retail, creativity and interactive play experiences in the heart of Oxford city centre.
