Esquires Coffee has opened a new café at Kingsgrove in Wantage, adding another food and drink venue to the growing neighbourhood centre.
The café opened on Wednesday 23 September and serves coffee, hot and cold drinks, pastries and freshly prepared food, including a traditional English breakfast.
It is open from 7.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday and from 8.00am to 4.00pm on Sundays.
The opening comes as Kingsgrove continues to develop as a new community on the eastern side of Wantage. The neighbourhood already includes homes, Wantage Primary Academy, green spaces, walking and cycling routes, play areas and sports facilities.
The neighbourhood centre is also home to a Co-op and Little Pioneers Nursery and Pre-school, while work is under way on a new community hub.
The hub is planned to include a hall, co-working space, meeting rooms, a café and outdoor gardens.
Councillor Andrew Crawford, Cabinet Member for Property, Housing and Economic Development at Vale of White Horse District Council, said the café was another addition to the growing neighbourhood centre.
“The arrival of Esquires Coffee is great news for Kingsgrove and another exciting addition to the growing neighbourhood centre,” he said.
“Alongside the Co-op and Little Pioneers Nursery and Pre-school, it gives local residents and the wider Wantage community even more reasons to visit, meet up and spend time locally.”
Esquires Coffee has more than 80 independently owned stores across the UK. The company was founded in 1993 and entered the UK market in 2000.
The Wantage café is operated by local franchise owners and offers vegetarian and vegan choices and dairy alternatives. Esquires says its coffee is organic and Fairtrade certified.
Simmi Arneja, one of the owners of Esquires Coffee Wantage, said the team wanted to create a place for local residents to meet and spend time.
“We are excited to have opened at Kingsgrove and to be part of the local community,” she said.
Tom Tracey, Estate Manager at Kingsgrove, said the café added to the amenities available within walking distance of residents’ homes.
“Esquires gives residents and the wider community a welcoming new place to meet and spend time, while adding to the range of useful amenities available within walking distance of people’s homes,” he said.
