Bicester Motion, the 444-acre future mobility estate in Oxfordshire, has submitted plans to redevelop Buildings 146/147, previously known as The Station Offices, which stand at the gateway to the Technical Site and will provide state-of-the-art HQ workspace designed specifically for automotive and aviation brands.

Originally constructed in 1926, the two-storey connected brick structures were RAF Bicester’s operations block and acted as the RAF station’s working office where day-to-day administration was carried out.

A planning application has been submitted to Cherwell District Council for the proposed restoration, which will total 9,536 sq ft (886 sq m) of contemporary, flexible open floorspace and include an additional second storey at the rear of the building to offer a smart and welcoming gateway to the Technical Site.

The buildings featured prominently in Queen Elizabeth II’s tour of RAF Bicester in 1965, which was celebrated 60 years on at Bicester Motion’s Scramble event on Sunday 27 April 2025. As with the restoration of the wider Bicester Motion Technical Site, industrial materials and features will be used to complement the building’s classical characteristics.

Daniel Geoghegan, chief executive officer, Bicester Motion, said: “As with all our investment into restoring the former RAF buildings on site, 146/147 have fallen into disrepair and require renovation and redevelopment to sensitively retain the existing exterior fabric and provide enhanced commercial space amenity.

“As we continue to attract a thriving community of pioneering automotive and aviation brands, our proposed restoration will answer the demand from companies for flexible, exceptional and contemporary HQ space in a prominent position within our estate.”

Anderson Orr, Edgars, OMK Design Consultancy, Nicholsons, CBG Consultants, Worlledge Associates, IKS Consulting, Motion, Aurochs Ecology and Higginson Associates acted on behalf of Bicester Motion.
