After the enormous success of Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition, Exhibition on Screen has announced the world premiere of its next film, Tokyo Stories.
Based on the smash-hit exhibition Tokyo: Art and Photography at the Ashmolean, Tokyo Stories spans four centuries – ranging from the delicate woodblock prints of Hokusai and Hiroshige to Pop Art posters, contemporary photography, Manga, film and street art.

The World Premiere of Tokyo Stories will be at the Phoenix Picturehouse cinema in Oxford on Friday, 19 May, at 6.00pm.
The evening will include a Q&A with the director David Bickerstaff, producer Phil Grabsky, Ashmolean Director Xa Sturgis and Senior Curator of Japanese Art Doctor Clare Pollard.
This exciting new film is fast-paced, energetic and dynamic, mixing the traditional with the ultra-modern and exploring one of the world’s most vibrant hubs of creativity and ingenuity.
This beautifully illustrated and richly detailed film explores a buzzing metropolis, which has undergone constant destruction and renewal over its 400-year history, becoming one of the most vibrant and interesting cities on the planet.
